Wow...Metallica, no Kimock, and some hip-hop related acts...sounds like fun....

What a mix, Metallica-Pearl Jam-Kanye West-Allman Bros. Should be a great scene....

Of those announced, I'd enjoy seeing over the course of a couple of days the following acts:
2008 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival Confirmed Artists:
Pearl Jam
Kanye West
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
Phil Lesh & Friends
My Morning Jacket
The Allman Brothers Band
The Raconteurs
Willie Nelson
B.B. King
Sigur Ros
Levon Helm and the Ramble on the Road
The Bluegrass Allstars Feat. Luke Bulla, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Bryan Sutton
Yonder Mountain String Band
Talib Kweli
Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival
Gogol Bordello
Robert Randolph's Revival
Rilo Kiley
Ozomatli
Solomon Burke
Drive-By Truckers
!!!
The Avett Brothers
Abigail Washburn & the Sparrow Quartet featuring Bela Fleck
Phil Lesh / Larry Campbell / Jackie Greene
Orchestra Baobab
Minus the Bear
Donavon Frankenreiter
Two Gallants
Vampire Weekend
Little Feat
Black Kids
Steel Train

The best part of a fest like this is running into something you don't know and being blown away and learning that maybe fans of music can actually go from a bluegrass show to a heavy metal set in the same day (I bet Robert Plant might be able to do it, walker and all) and have fun together. In 2006 I went from Betty Lavette to Bill Frissell to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah to My Morning Jacket to Oysterhaed to Tom Petty to Radiohead to Beck to Bright Eyes to Dr John (return of the Night Tripper) and a bunch of other acts. Some was great, some not, but it was a hell of a good time. And nice to see Pearl Jam returning to a fest after their European nightmare...
